Tornadoes strike as forecasters sound alarm

Read full story for latest details.

One of the most common things you will see a Credit clinic offer as part of a Fico score restoration service is to remove inquiries from your Credit report. Sounds great, right? Well - sure, if you have excessive inquiries it WILL affect your score, so you may want to take a look at removing ones that look questionable or potentially negative to a future lender. Here comes the big "but" though. In the grand scheme of things, inquiries really aren't doing much damage to your score, and are relatively easy to remove in contrast to some of your more damaging items, so I've actually seen some people pay for Credit repair, walk away with almost NO derogatory items removed, but tell me that on the up side, their inquiries are now clear as a blue sky on a summer day. Trust me, that isn't going to get you the Credit card or low interest mortgage rate you want.

As a matter of policy, in my experience, simply look at removing inquiries as the proverbial icing on the cake. They aren't doing much harm, and unless you have multiple scores run by high interest, high rate finance company types of lenders (showing you are desperate for cash and willing to pay out of the nose for a loan) your best strategy is to simply continue targeting the more damaging elements of your report, and leave the inquiries alone until everything else is gone. Lots of excellent profiles have lots of activity, so barring anything unusual or alarming, your efforts are best kept focused in more productive directions.
